Cutting Tools
Cutting tools are aptly named. They’re designed to cut into the materials used in an assembly, whether that’s plastic, sheet metal, or something thicker. We offer a selection of drills, blades, and more to make it easy to “cut” into your project.
Check out the products we offer below.
Consolidated Toledo Drill Tools
Consolidated Toledo Drill (CTD) offers quality products that begin with the finest tool steel and end with world-class results. CTD cutting tools are designed, engineered, and superbly crafted to provide long-lasting durability. Their manufacturing facility in Saint Paul, Minnesota, was designed specifically for creating efficient, high-quality cutting tools.
All materials CTD uses meet National Aerospace Standard (NAS) 907. This standard is known as the most stringent in the industry and requires CTD to only use high-quality steels that hold up under rigorous conditions.

High-Speed Steel (HSS) Drill Bits
HSS drill bits are commonly used for general-purpose drilling through a range of materials. These bits are made from a steel alloy that allows them to cut effectively even at high speeds. HSS bits are widely known for their versatility, heat resistance, and affordability.
Magnum Super Premium Drill Bits
Magnum Super Premium drill bits are ideal for hard metal drilling applications, including work-hardening grades of stainless steel. These bits are made from a special Hi-Molybdenum tool steel. The 135° split point makes it easy to accurately start without a center punch and ensures quick penetration.
Marshall Sales partners with Consolidated Toledo Drill to offer the Bully™ Magnum Super Premium drill bit. This is the same great drill bit as the original Magnum Super Premium, but it now includes 3-flats on the shank for
Key Characteristics & Advantages
- Substantially longer cutting life: These bits' nitro-carburized flute has an increased Rockwell hardness, which increases cutting life.
- Cuts through harder materials: The flatter point takes a small chip, so more torque can be directed to a smaller area. This means it’s easy to drill into materials with hardnesses over 30 on the Rockwell C scale.
- Prevents drill walking: The split point design provides accurate starting without the use of a center point.
- Holds tighter hole size: The bits' design is self-centering, which limits the normal oversize drilling seen with other bits.
- Outstanding quality appearance: These bits have a rich, amber-gold color that sets them apart visually from other commodity cutting tools.
- Runs cooler, uses less torque: The 135° point takes a small chip, which generates less heat. The amber-gold surface treatment, while being visually attractive, also reduces friction to lower required torque.
- Stops chuck slippage: The flats on these drill shanks allow for easy positive chuck grip.

Taps
Taps are tools turned within a pre-drilled hole to create internal screw threads. They’re commonly used for both through-holes and blind holes. Hand Taps are a great solution when power tools aren’t viable or readily available.
General-purpose taps come in three different styles: taper, plug, and bottom. They’re all suitable for tapping most materials.
Taper Taps
Taper taps have a gradual taper at the tip, which makes it easier to begin the threading process within a hole. Taper lengths range from seven to ten threads.
Plug Taps
Plug taps feature shorter tapers than taper taps. The taper lengths on these taps range from three to five threads.
Bottom Taps
Bottom taps only feature tapers with one or two threads. They’re used for threading close to the bottom of a blind hole.
Spiral Point Plug Taps
Spiral point plug taps, also known as gun taps, are designed for machine tapping in holes bored into a wide variety of materials. The taps’ points continuously eject chips ahead of the tap to prevent chip disposal problems and thread damage. Gold Oxide provides low-temperature stress relief that enhances lubricity, reduces friction, and increases tap toughness.
While these are the most common taps we offer, Marshall Sales has a much wider selection available. Check out the link below for more information.
Dies
Thread dies, also known as thread-cutting dies, are used to create external screw threads. These hardened metal tools feature internal cutting edges shaped like the thread profile needed for the job. When rotated around the workpiece, the die cuts the thread into the material with ease.
Marshall Sales offers countless styles of dies to choose from. Check out the link below for a more extensive list of our products.
Hole Saws
If you need to cut a perfectly circular hole, Lenox® Hole Saws are the best in the industry, and they’re proudly made in the USA. Speed Slot® Bi-Metal Hole Saws with T3 Technology® are designed to drill right through wood and metal. As the material that’s getting cut gets thicker, the saw’s durability actually improves.
These hole saws feature larger, sharper teeth that penetrate metal with ease and remove more wood for quick cutting. Plus, the Speed Slot® staircase design is intended to make plug removal a breeze.

Reciprocating Saw Blades
Lenox® Bi-Metal Reciprocating Saw Blades lead the industry, since they’re built stronger and designed to cut longer than the competition. The Power Blast Technology® increases blade life while high-speed blasting along the cutting edge strengthens the blade, reduces breaks, and increases durability. These blades also feature patented T2 Technology®, which reduces the cutting forces on each tooth and optimizes chip removal to provide efficient cutting through a wide range of materials.
